The University of Calicut is located in Malappuram, Kerala which is the largest university in Kerala state. It is the second university which is set up by Government plan bifurcating Kerala University in Kerala. Four Departments of postgraduation will be separated from the University of Kerala in Calicut and adjoined to a new university named as Calicut university which includes 54 constituent colleges. Calicut University has 30 postgraduate departments and 373 affiliated colleges.
Calicut University also offers 29 Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses through distance learning mode. School of Distance education at Calicut University was established in 1981 and its most famous distance education providing university in Kerala. More than 60,000 students are enrolled every year who belongs to Gulf countries.
School of Distance education at Calicut University offers 16 undergraduate courses and 13 postgraduate courses. Calicut University School of Distance education provides 12 undergraduate courses in arts, 5 bachelor’s degree programs in commerce and 3 undergraduate courses in Business Administration. Eligibility Criteria for Distance UG Admissions
BA {Bachelor of Arts}
Students who have completed their 12th from Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or qualified any other equivalent examination from a recognized board are eligible to apply for BA course and other Calicut University Distance UG Admission Courses.
Duration of Bachelor of Arts (BA) is 3 Years that is 6 Semester. Calicut University School of Distance education offers a BA course in different streams or disciplines which are listed below:

- Hindi
- Arabic
- Sanskrit
- Tamil
- Afzal-Ul-Ulama
- History
- Economics
- Political Science

BBA/BBM {Bachelor of Business Administration/ Bachelor of Business Management}
Candidates who have passed their 12th from Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or qualified any other equivalent examination from a recognized board are eligible to apply for BBA course and other Calicut University Distance UG Admission Courses.
Duration of Bachelor of Business Administration/ Bachelor of Business Management (BBA) is 3 Years that is 6 Semester. Calicut University Distance Education provide BBA course in different streams or disciplines which is given below:
- Finance
- Marketing
- Human Resource Management
B.Com {Bachelor of Commerce}
Students who want to join Calicut University Distance UG Admission Courses must have completed their 12th from Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or qualified any other equivalent examination from a recognized board.
Duration of B.Com {Bachelor of Commerce) is 6 Semester course. Interested candidates can join the Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) course in various streams or disciplines which we have mentioned below:

BMM {Bachelor of Multimedia}
Students who have completed their 12th from Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or qualified any other equivalent examination from a recognized board are eligible to apply for BMM course and other Calicut University Distance UG Admission Courses.
Duration of Bachelor of Multimedia (BMM) is 3 Years course. Only Bachelor of Multimedia and Communication is offered by Calicut University School of Distance education.
How to Apply:
Candidates are invited to apply online for Calicut University Distance UG Admission programme. Students who want to apply can visit the official website of Calicut University School of Distance education and fill the application form.
Candidates have to follow these steps to apply online for admission:
- Visit the official website of Calicut University School of Distance education.
- Enter Challan receipt and a recent passport size photograph must be in JPEG format and Login to the official website of Calicut University.
- For online application, Click on SDE-Regular UG Admission.
- Now, Fill all the necessary details carefully and click on submit.
- Take the printout of the application.
Calicut University School of Distance Education will remit the application fee and all the required fee via any e-payments methods.

Documents to be Attached for Submit Application Form:
At the time of submission of the Application form to the head office of Calicut University School of Distance education, Candidates have to attach some necessary documents which will be mandatory to take the admission in distance courses of Calicut University. Here we have listed some important documents which will be required to attach with the application form:
- Attached Original Challan receipt for the required fee.
- Original Transfer Certificate.
- Original Qualifying examinations mark sheet and certificates and self-attested copies.
- Domicile certificate, Income certificate and Caste certificate (if belongs to SC/ST/OBC/OEC category).
- BPL candidates have to attach a necessary certificate from the concerned authority.
- Relaxation Certificate from the concerned authority in minimum marks(if candidate are teachers, Govt. employees, University employees etc.)
- Date of Birth proof as Attested copy of matriculation or SSLC mark sheet.
- A Self-addressed stamped envelope ( INR 32/-) of size 30×25 cms. to return the original certificates if they did not get admission.
- 3 self-addressed stamped ( 5/-) envelops (12 x 5 inches)
- INR 50 Spot Admission fee, if candidates are taking admission through spot admission
